What's this?

Colombia

I am a photojournalist from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I like to shoot in a spontaneous way, prefering available light and unexpected situations, often involving social commentary and  touch of humor or irony.

This website may not resemble my entire portfolio and not all features have been enabled.

Instead of a mere gallery, I felt compelled to tell some more stories behind the pictures. Just click Photo Stories to view all. More to follow - enjoy!

Hospital takeover

Quibdo 7623 Colombian Red Cross and Doctors without Borders took over the local hospital in Quibdo a couple of years ago. There was no official government supporting health care here and frankly people were dying like flies. They said they were proud of their hospital, and I guess any westerner who comes here should suck up their opinions. I was given a tour through what existed mainly of a large maternity ward and some makeshift IC sections. View Gallery...
